Master in Architecture Design Studio – Summer Semester 2025
Taking place on the 16th of June, the presentation showcased the work of first-year Master in Architecture students at the University of Luxembourg, developed during the Summer Semester 2025 design studio. Titled “Differdange – What a street can be...”, the studio focused on the role of the street in shaping urban life in Differdange, Luxembourg’s third-largest city.
Engaging with the city’s current mobility dynamics, the studio explored how streets – predominantly shaped by car traffic – might be reimagined as public spaces that support new forms of urban cohabitation. Through a combination of research, cartographic analysis, and spatial design, students investigated the social, ecological, and infrastructural dimensions of the street as a site of transformation.
Conducted under the guidance of Florian Hertweck, Klaas De Rycke, and Kristina Shatokhina, the studio resulted in seven group projects that reflect diverse approaches to urban space, mobility, and architectural agency.
The final presentations took place at the Maison du Savoir, accompanied by guest reviews and collective discussion. We thank the students for their thoughtful work and engagement throughout the semester, and extend our appreciation to the invited guests for their contributions and perspectives brought to the final reviews and discussions.
